Rafting

Rafting the Fonce Rio in San Gil should be high on your list of things to do in while in Santander. Just two hours away from Bucaramanga, we leave early in the morning to make the most of the day. As the sun begins to rise, we arrive at the massive Chicamocha mountain range and make our way up the mountain to cross over to San Gil. On our way, you will have marvelous views of the mountain range and after we reach the summit, we will have breakfast at a local restaurant that has a great . We stop at this wonderful restaurant to give you a true Santander meal. In our opinion, this place has the best Santander arepas, which are unlike anything you will find in Colombia. 

As we finish breakfast we continue on our way towards San Gil. Next, we head to the rafting site, where we will meet the rafting team for a quick chat, allow you to change into your swimmers, and load up in the rafting vehicle before taking a short ride to the Fonce Rio. We have a couple choices for you in regards to the rapids you can take. The Fonce Rio has all kinds of rapids ranging from class 1 to 5, and we will go on the Suarez River for the bigger rapids.

While cruising down the river, our guide will make sure you have a safe, and enjoyable experience and will let you know when it is safe to jump in and go for a swim. There you can also swim the rapids yourself, and that is awesome to just float on your back and have the water pull you along. Take in the beauty of Fonce Rio, as the shore is lined with century old trees with the moss hanging off them, and the views of the mountain ranges in the distance.
